Jerry Margaret Simmons began practicing political, initiative, referendum and election law upon graduating from law school in 1979.  Prior to law school, she worked as an Administrative Advocate at Sacramento County Legal Aid Society representing individuals in administrative hearings regarding various benefit programs.  During law school, she was an aide to a member of the California State Assembly and worked for the Center for Law in the Public Interest.  Jerry has served as legal counsel to a wide variety of individuals and organizations in the political arena and has acted as treasurer to many political committees.  She has also worked as in-house legal counsel to a large corporation on political and legislative matters.  She has written about election law issues and has conducted political compliance seminars.

Jerry received a B.A. from University of California, Davis (cum laude, 1975) and a J.D. from University of California, Davis School of Law (1979).
